Tattoo Removal to get rid of those mistakes

How can I get a Tattoo Removed?

There are several ways of getting a tattoo removed. These include having it done manually, surgery (which should always be a last resort) and creams. However, these treatments are either dangerous or ineffective. The best method of tattoo removal is using lasers. Below is some information on getting a tattoo removed with lasers.

How it Works

It works on a similar principle to laser hair removal, a process which may be more familiar to some people. The light is absorbed by the pigments in the ink, which breaks it down to be absorbed into the body. It is basically a speeded-up version of fading due to time or sun exposure and you may need several sessions.

What to Expect

All colours have a different absorption spectra, and colours such as green, yellow and fluorescents are much harder to treat. Reds, blues and blacks are the easiest colours to remove. The laser can cause oxidation with white and flesh tones, turning them black. These then need to be removed properly eight weeks later. Some colours may never be completely removed.

Tattoo removal can also be very painful, and depending on your pain threshold and the size of the tattoo you may have to have some form of anaesthetic.

Safety

There are some potential side effects with laser tattoo removal, though it is much safer than most other options. In severe cases it can cause scarring or burns, but more common side effects include redness, soreness, blisters and changes in skin pigmentation. Contrary to popular belief, laser treatments cannot cause serious conditions such as infertility or cancer.
