Straighten your teeth the way you want to

If you’re teeth are crooked, misaligned and out of place you might want to consider what teeth straightening options are out there for you. Lots of people harbour the misconception that straightening only means fixed metal braces and lots of scary-looking dental headgear, but that’s just not true. Dentists have worked hard to provide different straightening options and, depending on how much you’re willing to spend and on the severity of the misalignment, there might be one that works well for you. The main types of teeth straightening are with traditional fixed braces, the 6-month smile system, invisalign, inman aligners and veneers.

Traditional fixed braces are made up of square brackets fixed using dental glue on to your teeth, and then wires which run through the different brackets to pull your teeth into line. 6-month smile braces are similar to traditional braces in that they’re a ‘bracket and wire’ system, but all the components are tooth coloured and almost invisible. Furthermore, 6-month smile braces tend to work about four times faster than regular braces, but are really only suitable for minor to moderate crookedness, costing around £1500 and up. Invisalign treatment involves near-invisible removable ‘trays’ that pull your teeth into place, costing around £2200. I went to a dentists in essex to get inman aligner treatment, which was a removable retainer that fixed over the top of my teeth and straightened them at a cost of £1700. Some people use veneers to make their teeth look straighter, which are basically just thin pieces of porcelain glued to the fronts of your teeth. Veneers can cost tens of thousands, and so are not an option for most people. Traditional fixed braces work the best on teeth that are moderate to severely crooked, and cost about £2000.
